New Granada Fire Station Permit Applications

The Coastside Fire Protection District has submitted permit applications to the County for the new 12,340 s/f Granada Station #41 (project page) on the vacant parcel bounded by Obispo, Alhambra and Coronado, with entry via Obispo.

Approvals required:

  • Coastal Development Permit (appealable to CA Coastal Commission)

  • Use Permit  --  Design Review

  • Grading Permit (10,150 c/y cut & 160 c/y fill)  --  Remove 7 trees

  • Environmental Impact Report

  • Subdivision to split 2.7-acre parcel into 0.32-acre in C1 zone at Portola and 2.37 acres in EG zone along Obispo to Coronado.

Zoning Variance:

  • Parcel size will be 2.37 acres where minimum is 3.5 acres.

  • Building height 30 ft where 16 ft maximum is allowed

  • Front/rear setbacks 8 ft combined, where 70 ft minimum is required

  • Lot coverage 11.9% where 10% maximum is allowed

UPDATE 12/2/16:  The Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIR) and Appendices are posted.  Public review and comment period is Dec 2 – Jan 19.  Public hearing is 6pm Wed, Jan 18, 2017, at 1191 Main St., HMB.

UPDATE 4/14/17:  At their April 26, 2017, meeting the Coastside Fire Protection District (CFPD) is set to certify the Final EIR for the El Granada Fire Station Replacement Project.  Notice of Public Hearing
