At 12/20/2024 Special Meeting, the SMC Harbor District Board approved purchase of six contiguous parcels at the northwest corner of Princeton & Vassar for $1,450,000. The parcels are paved, have a perimeter fence and one water connection, and are currently used for boat storage.
CCC Approves SR1 Multi-Asset Roadway Rehab Project
The scope of Caltrans’ major pavement rehab project (from Wavecrest Rd, HMB, to Marine Bl, at the south end of Moss Beach) is to restore the facility to good repair, improve roadway safety, upgrade drainage systems, enhance pedestrian & bike access, and upgrade existing traffic system infrastructure. Upon appeal of County and HMB CDP approvals, the CA Coastal Commission took jurisdiction at 11/14/2024 hearing and approved the CDP with added Conditions of Approval to address coastal access parking in the Surfers’ Beach vicinity.

UPDATE 8/15/2024: No candidates filed for MCC open seats by the deadline. Without any candidates Midcoast Community Council will not be on the Nov. ballot.

If an eligible incumbent does not file Declaration of Candidacy by August 9, 2024 at 5 p.m., the filing period is extended for that office for five calendar days until August 14, 2024 at 5 p.m., for any person other than the incumbent.

The Nov 5 General Election ballot will have 3 seats open for election to the Midcoast Community Council (Election Resolution). One of those seats has no eligible incumbent. Councilmember terms are for 4 years.
Candidate filing period runs from July 15 through August 9 at 5:00 PM

Protected Tree Ordinance Update July 2024
The County's Planning and Building Department has prepared an update to the County’s Tree Removal Regulations to improve management of individual trees and tree canopy in the County, and to improve the tree removal and trimming permit process, consistent with the County’s General Plan. There will be an informational study session on the draft ordinance on Wednesday July 10, 2024, at 9:00 AM at the SMC Planning Commission (in person and via Zoom).
