El Granada School Parking Lot Lighting Community Meeting Mar. 6

El Granada School Parking Lot Lighting
Community Engagement Meeting
March 6, 2025, 6:00-7:00 PM
El Granada School Multi-Purpose Room

Cabrillo Unified School District (CUSD) is in the process of modernizing El Granada Elementary School & parking lot.  Permits for most of this construction come directly from the State Board of Education, but due to the sensitive coastal location, permits for outdoor portions of the project, such as the parking lot modernization and lighting, have been under the purview of San Mateo County in the form of a Coastal Development Permit (CDP).  This neighborhood outreach meeting will review the parking lot and lighting plans and provide opportunity for public input.

GGNRA Montara Prairie Renewal Project 2024-2026

Native grassland conservation and restoration is ongoing at Rancho Corral de Tierra.  The project involves removing invasive conifers which are spreading from neighborhood plantings into native grasslands. The goal is to protect "core" grassland areas which contain rare and sensitive native coastal prairie habitats that were treeless less than 40 years ago. While this seems like a big change, only a fraction of the trees in the Montara parcel for prairie restoration are being removed. There are also ongoing projects to reduce wildfire risk by thinning trees and brush near neighborhoods.

Website with story map that describes the project purpose and scope.
