SR-1 Traffic Operational Systems Improvement Project: Caltrans Online Public Meeting 9/10/20

Caltrans online public meeting

Thursday, September 10, 2020, 5:30 - 7:00 PM

(See meeting notice for how to sign in to meeting.)

Caltrans is proposing to construct the Traffic Operational Systems Improvement Project to improve day-to-day traffic management capabilities for Caltrans, cities, and first responders on State Route 1, between Half Moon Bay and Pacifica.   Proposed improvements include:

  • Wireless Detection Systems sensors

  • Variable Message Signs, 5x12 ft -- Midcoast locations are along the airport: southbound at Coral Reef, and northbound at north end of Cabrillo Farms.

  • Maintenance Vehicle Pullouts (MVP)

  • Replace existing guardrails at project locations with the Midwest Guardrail System (current standard for safety).

Caltrans has prepared an environmental review document, Initial Study/Negative Declaration.  Pages 7-14 show detail and images of Midcoast and Half Moon Bay locations.  Written public comments may be submitted by the deadline, which has been extended through Oct 30, 2020.  See meeting notice for more info and how to submit comment.

For info on Caltrans long-range planning for the Coastside, see MCC 6/15/18 post on Caltrans 2018 Hwy 1 Corridor Study.
